Alex Clifton

Professional Bio
Alex has worked in the vehicle engineering and transport industry for more than three decades where he has demonstrated a real passion for vehicles. Alex currently manages the asset and maintenance operations of a large vehicle fleet for an Australian international manufacturer alongside his research and teachings.
He entered the industry as an apprentice technician working for light and heavy haulage contractors. During his time, he has worked in many technical areas of the vehicle industry including transitioning at an early age into research and development roles. These included component manufacturing, specialist automotive surface coatings and engine development for a range of vehicle manufacturers. Alex has worked in research and development teams helping to achieve the coveted ISO 17025 international testing standard.
Alex is a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management and is a chartered member and an active steering committee member for the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Western Australia chapter.
He holds a graduate certificate and a graduate diploma in business, he has completed an MBA specialising in supply chain management and global logistics and is in his final year of his PhD project at Edith Cowan University exploring the relationship between vehicle telemetry systems and sustainability.
