Professional Bio
Professor Andry Rakotonirainy is the Director of CARRS-Q and Intelligent Transport System Human factor research program within CARRS-Q. He has 20 years of research and management experience in computer science and brings advanced expertise in road safety and ITS. He has authored over 220 internationally refereed papers in prestigious conferences and journals. The impacts of his research are significant with one paper cited 871 times (3334 citations total), and he has an h-index of 24. He has been awarded 9 Australian Research Council (ARC) grants. He serves on many international program committees for conferences and journals and has been asked to review internationally competitive grants. He has established the CARRS-Q advanced driving simulator laboratory which was the most advanced driving simulator facility in Australia.
Professor Rakotonirainy’s work on ITS has been recognised both nationally and internationally. He has been proactive in investigating the use of existing and emerging ITS from multiple disciplines. It incorporates disciplines such as computer science, mathematics, human factors, engineering, psychology, and sociology. His research has made extensive use of driving simulators, traffic simulators and instrumented vehicles for developing system prototypes, assessing cost-benefits, understanding human errors and evaluating system deployment. His research on ITS has received numerous competitive grants and generated extensive interest from road safety stakeholders.
