Faruk is a PhD student at Monash University focusing on improving the social coordination of autonomous vehicles (AVs) between one another and with human drivers. A key part of their research focuses on the need for AVs to develop an understanding of human behaviour through abstract information of driver behaviour. By creating AV systems that are proactive they can act more appropriately in situations of conflict. The research Faruk is involved with aims to improve upon current AV systems which struggle to scale up to multi-agent and system optimisation applications.
