Wayne Speers joined Yarra Trams in January 2020 - it was a natural fit for Wayne who has spent his whole career helping people get from A to B.

 

Wayne Speers starting his career working as a travel agent in Sydney, helping people find the best ways to get around the world. The majority of his career has been working in the aviation sector, working in roles as Cabin Crew, Cabin Manager, Crew Manager and then in roles developing and managing airport procedures and policies, and other roles including the Boeing 787 introduction to Australia in 2011.

 

During his time at Yarra Trams, Wayne has worked as a Team Manager for Drivers, and is working now as the Advisor for Accessibility and Compliance. Wayne is an advocate for gender equality, being involved in the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning’s Women in Transport program, as a member of one of the working groups. He is a proud member of Yarra Trams’ Pride Alliance.

 

Wayne volunteers spending time coaching and mentors public speakers, and he is one of the producers and presenters of the live broadcast programs of the Weekend Magazine and Sunday Morning News programs on the Vision Australia radio network.

 

Wayne’s personal passions include movies and musical theatre, and Wayne's plays the piano. He has been awarded the Associate and Licentiate Diplomas by the Australian Music Examinations Board and holds a Bachelor of Music from University of Southern Queensland.

 

One Wayne’s most realising moments throughout his career is knowing that transport is not a one-size-fits-all solution – it is dynamic. It needs to evolve, and it needs to belong to the community it serves. Whether it is an airline, a tram network, a ride-share service, or a pathway for pedestrians. Being able to be a part of this evolution of transport means that Wayne continues to provide opportunities for people being able to get from A to B.
