Professional Bio
Wolfgang Höfs has more than four decades of professional experience in transportation technology issues focusing on digitalization and mobility at large. His expertise covers several areas, such as technologies for ITS, public transport, traveler information, connected automated driving, deployment strategies, standardization and regulatory affairs.
He has delivered his expertise to the private as well as the public sector. In the past 17 years he co-designed European Commission’s digital policy for transport and mobility and assisted to make large and complex projects such as eCall, the pan-European automated emergency call system, a success.
He studied Information Technologies and Business Administration at Technical University Dortmund and Birkbeck College in London earning a Diploma degree. He is Member of the European and International Program Committees for the ITS World Congresses (EPC / IPC) and supports ERTICO in the preparations for the ITS World Congress in Dubai 2024. He has taken over responsibility as chief rapporteur for the Congress from Prof. Eric Sampson who recently retired.
In Germany he supported the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg in the preparations for the ITS World Congress 2021. At present he advises Hamburg on topics related to mobility transition aimed at fighting climate change.
