ITS Australia Summit 2023

Cycle Priority

Abstract

Talk Description

Institution: Q-Free Australia - NSW, Australia

With increasing cyclists and pedestrians using walking and cycling network, the data shows that there is increasing numbers of users when they feel safe doing so. The State government and Council can see this from data collected from their counters installed on walking and cycling network and hence increasing yearly budget to build and extend more safe routes so that commuters can travel safely in dedicated walkway and cycleways. New roads and highway planned and built in Australia will also need to include new shared path for commuters so that commuters can travel safely to and from work to encourage exercising and staying active. Data collected from counters is also being shared by Council and Road Authorities, data from all counters is uploaded and shared on websites. Kinetic Mobility platform enables agencies to work on common goals across local, intercity, and regional operations. It achieves this through a single, user-configurable interface for all aspects of intelligent transportation systems – traffic signals, freeways, events, signs, video, and more. Any ITS hardware can be added due to open-source technologies and open API to improve safety and usability. Kinetic Counts is sophisticated traffic data collection and analysis tool that equips authorities with valuable insights to make data-driven decisions for their infrastructure planning and investment needs. Kinetic Signs is a system-wide sign management solution that gives users complete control over their dynamic message signs regardless of vendor. Using an intuitive message editor, users can manage nearly every aspect of the appearance of messages, including formatting, colour, font, and priority.
