BreakOut Session 47: Sustainable Transport

Talk Description

Institution: Cubic Transportation Systems - NSW, Australia

This presentation focuses on the strategic goals of city authorities and transportation agencies around the world, including achieving Net Zero and reducing congestion while delivering integrated transportation services. Rather than working from universal to the few, Cubic and agencies globally are taking a different approach to sustainability and "mobility for all" by working from the few to the universal. The presentation highlights how advancements in transportation technology have changed journey planning, app usage, and the use of electric and autonomous vehicles. However, the focus is not solely on the technologies required, but on how to integrate and utilise those technologies into a multi-modal ecosystem for seamless mobility while leveraging existing infrastructure more efficiently.

The presentation delves into the current and future potential of electrification in the transportation industry, highlighting how sustainable transport is a strategic goal in most countries. The presentation also emphasises the importance of MaaS, which ties together all the technologies, services, and infrastructure to provide seamless mobility. Ultimately, the presentation argues that behaviour change is necessary for sustainable change in the transportation sector. The presentation provides insights into the future of transportation and achieving sustainable, seamless mobility for all.
