With some many vehicles equipped with vehicle telematics and smart devices with real-time traffic information, why are the key reasons we are not able to provide targeted real-time level crossing alerts to approaching vehicles/people to level crossings?
With more than 20000 rail crossings and 26 fatalities every year in Australia there is a renew focus on how to utilise technologies and safety system framework to improve rail crossing safety across Australia.
This presentation provides an update on a number of technology enabled rail crossing initiatives including recent initiative that JYW provided in collaboration with ARTC/Inland Rail.
This presentation concludes with a summary of the key recommendations/constraints needed to be overcome in order to accelerate the implementation that provides safer crossing for all, with the goal to reduce to zero fatalities.
