Talk Description
Institution: Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads - QLD, Australia
The Queensland's Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and Mobility Program is laying the foundations for MaaS and improved mobility in support of the departments strategic vision of creating a single integrated transport network accessible to everyone.
Mid-2021, TMR partnered with the University of Queensland (UQ) and iMOVE CRC to develop and deploy ODIN PASS, Australia's largest MaaS trial in July 2021. During the first 18 months of the trial (July 2021 – December 2022) around 17,000 mobility bundle subscriptions were purchased by over 5,700 unique users. More than 750,000 and over 18,000 micromobility trips have been planned, booked, and paid for through the ODIN PASS MaaS application.
Inspired by the trial's success, two additional limited access deployments of ODIN PASS were conducted at the ITS Australia Summit and Bus Industry Confederation National Conference in 2022, supporting event transport.
This presentation will share insights and learnings from the ODIN PASS trial and provide commentary on the success of the trial with regards to achieving the core objectives of:
1. Understanding consumer preferences in a MaaS subscription scheme.
2. Increasing public and active transport patronage.
3. Investigate whether a sustainable business model for MaaS exists locally.
4. Understand the relative importance and attractiveness of a smartphone based MaaS application.
