Talk Description
Institution: MOV3MENT, Queensland Transport and Logistics Council - Australia
This presentation will provide an update on the progress of the Australian-first Future Freight Energy Hubs program (FFEH), launched in 2022 to overcome market barriers to zero emission freight trucks in Queensland (Australia). As a key recommendation from the ground-breaking report by industry body Queensland Transport and Logistics Council (QTLC) and clean fleet experts at MOV3MENT, it set out to establish major freight precincts as accelerators to transition the road freight sector to zero emission trucks. Initial results and learnings from the first active precinct (Port of Brisbane) will be presented, along with additional insights and challenges on the journey so far. The role of local road regulation, data and ITS systems will be discussed in the context of rolling out additional precincts. Demand for Phase 2 of the program, which focuses on regional areas and other diesel-dependent sectors which may have less data than road freight, will also be covered. The speakers will provide a checklist of potential learnings and future improvements for similar programs in other Australian regions or other countries.
