Mandi Mees leads complex system reform at the National Transport Commission to support Australian governments to improve transport productivity and safety, reduce emissions and develop a modern transport workforce as it digitises and decarbonises. At the NTC, Mandi has led national policy reform to introduce model driver distraction and personal mobility device laws, to improve heavy vehicle policy, to catalyse change in how the nation reports on vehicle fleet emissions and is currently untangling the complex web within rail and education sectors to harmonise rail skills training nationally.

 

Today, her work is accelerating access to skilled labour in rail across Australia, shaping the next generation digital rail workforce, reducing regulatory and training burden for the rail industry and leading the National Rail Skills Hub - a virtual partnership with employers, educators, governments, construction and transport sectors. A skilled public engagement specialist, Mandi developed the NTC’s first corporate partnerships strategy, and led the development of its inaugural National Women in Transport program. 

 

Prior to the NTC, Mandi led policy advocacy programs with Roads Australia, was the Deputy Mayor of the Macedon Ranges Shire and had an extensive international career in advertising and communications across the pharmaceutical, IT, financial and engineering services sectors.
