Talk Description
Institution: Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads - QLD, Australia
Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and advances in technologies to support transport services have presented industry and businesses with opportunities to truly innovate in the creation of multi-modal transport. To support this innovation, Queensland's Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and Mobility Program focuses on the underpinning foundational needs for MaaS and better mobility outcomes through industry-based trials, research and proofs of concept.
This presentation provides an overview of the research and foundation building activities that are underway within the program. This includes academic, real world trials and direct industry involvement through co-design as featured through the ODIN PASS MaaS trial and e-hub, shared e-mobility parking trial.
The presentation will consider how the approach undertaken within the themes of foundation forming, system shaping, and evidence building have been used to gain critical knowledge and understanding on how MaaS could impact the transport sector. This includes key insights into understanding how customers may interact in this world of future mobility.
Insights from the presentation will assist in growing our ITS community's understanding of how of governments' role in MaaS and mobility may need to shift to bring about better future mobility options for communities.
